When I was a little girl, I dreamed about getting married simply because I wanted to go wedding dress shopping. Trying on a limitless amount of flowy, gorgeous dresses sounded like a total dream come true to my five-year-old self. Though I'm far away from my childhood years, I still appreciate how amazing wedding dress shopping is. For most women, their wedding dress is one of the most expensive investments in clothing they will ever make. They spend months shopping and trying on and looking through magazines or Pinterest boards for the perfect dress for their special day — and when they find the perfect dress, it is often the most expensive fashion investment they will ever make. I felt that way when I bought my wedding dress, over 30 years ago. It was the most beautiful dress I had ever worn — until I discovered luxury ready-to-wear fashion! Do you have a fashion investment in your closet that you will never part with?

As a great collector of fashion, I have more than one closet full of clothes that I love. There are times when items just don’t suit me anymore and I know it is time for a closet edit. I frequently pull out similar pieces, such as blazers, tops, bottoms, dresses, shoes, accessories, or handbags and edit the pieces I no longer use on a regular basis. I usually store these unused pieces in a different closet in my house, and then revisit that carefully stored pile to see if I want to keep anything later.If not, then off to resale or recycle it goes! As important as it is to consistently edit your closet, it’s equally important to take quality care of your collection. Hand washing, dry cleaning, leather repair, and shoe resole and repair are all tools at your disposal for keeping clothes in tiptop shape so you can wear them for a lifetime! A love for shopping can create problems when there is only so much room for storing your beautiful pieces! We all remember our mother storing her furs for summer in a cold vault. It's always a good idea to rotate your closet by season. Winter boots, dark dresses, and heavy coats go into storage around mid-April and summer wedges, light florals, and sandals are brought to the front of the display. For those of you in very tight spaces — like New York or Paris — you can even find companies that will store your treasured pieces for you in their facilities. Every once in a while, I edit out pieces that I haven’t worn in a while. During my 30-day fashion challenge (see my IG highlights for the latest one), I often discover pieces I’ve owned for a while that I had forgotten how much I love — but there's only so much room for storing these beautiful pieces! Illuminated with natural light, the dining area incorporates quintessential Parisian elements like blue velvet banquettes, a two-color terrazzo floor and pewter bar counter and features a rotating collection of paintings and photography by locally and nationally acclaimed artists and ornate floral arrangements. Outside of the restaurant, guests are transported to a Parisian sidewalk café with traditional French bistro woven rattan chairs and tables.
